Composite waste is now a liability. We engineer the route to compliance.

Composite waste is now a liability. We engineer the route to compliance

Independent, technology-neutral process engineering for the recycling, decommissioning and valorisation of GFRP, CFRP, aramid and core composites — from feasibility to bankable EPC.

Composite waste has no compliant disposal route — and that gap is now on the balance sheet.

Wind operators, shipyards, aerospace primes and waste managers are accumulating composite waste streams with no straightforward disposal route. The European wind industry landfill ban took effect on 1 January 2026. Incineration is closing as an option across the EU. EPR frameworks are tightening. Decommissioning provisions are climbing.

The decision is no longer whether to recycle composites, but how — and on what economics. That decision needs route selection, mass balance, CAPEX/OPEX and a bankable engineering case before any plant is procured.

01 — THE CHALLENGE

That is what RCA Engineering delivers.

Waste-to-energy & gasification

Route selection and engineering for energy recovery from non-recyclable composite fractions, including gasification feasibility.

Waste-to-energy & gasification

Decommissioning

Decommissioning

Planning and execution oversight for dismantling of wind blades, end-of-life vessels and aerospace assets.

Financial modelling

Financial modelling

CAPEX/OPEX build-up, cash flow, break-even gate fee, payback, sensitivity — outputs that stand up to lender scrutiny.

Procurement & contracts

EPC contracts, purchase agreements and RFQ packages drafted to align scope, risk allocation and commercial terms.

Process engineering

Technical due diligence

Feasibility, technology assessment, mass-balance review and risk register, to investment-grade standards.

Technical due diligence

2 — WHAT WE DO

End-to-end engineering advisory — from feasibility to commissioning.

Procurement & contracts

Process engineering

Design, sizing and full documentation to gasification-plant standards across mechanical, pyrolysis and solvolysis routes.

  • Independent: No equipment to push
  • Technology-neutral: Mechanical - Pyrolysis - Solvolysis - Gasification
  • Process-engineering rigour
  • Bankable: Outpuits built for lender scrutiny

We don't sell plants. We don't license processes. We are not tied to any technology vendor.  That independence is the difference. When we select a recycling route, design a mass balance or structure an EPC package, we do so on the merits of your feedstock, your throughput, your economics and your regulatory exposure — not on what someone in our group needs to sell.

The result is engineering that holds up to lender due diligence, regulator review and operator reality.

03 — WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Wind energy

Blade decommissioning, GFRP/CFRP segregation, recovery of metals and core. Onshore and offshore.

Marine

End-of-life recreational and commercial vessels. ELV-style compliance, hazardous-material removal, hull segregation.

Aerospace

Retirement and recycling of CFRP airframe and component waste, with traceability suitable for primes and tier-one suppliers.

Waste management

Industrial composite waste streams. Integration into existing infrastructure and EPR compliance routes.

Wherever composites accumulate, we engineer the route out.

04 — WHO WE SERVE

05 — WHO WE ARE

A pure-play composite recycling engineering practice — built on a working knowledge of how composites are designed and built.

Our founding expertise spans racing yacht construction in carbon and Kevlar prepregs, aerospace and automotive finite-element design, judicial expert work in composites, construction structural, and the rehabilitation of historic buildings using composite materials — recognised by the Industrial Technical Foundation and presented at JEC Composites Paris. That background gives us the only honest starting point for engineering how composites should be recycled.
