One engineer, named on the work

RCA Engineering is a single-principal practice. The person who takes the first call is the person who writes the report, defends it in the review meeting and signs it. There is no team of juniors between the client and the analysis, and no partner who disappears after the pitch.

A career built around one material family, approached from four different sides. Composite construction in marine sector, carbon prepreg, where tolerances and cure schedules are not theoretical. Finite element analysis in aerospace, where the laminate has to be justified before it is built. Structural rehabilitation of historic buildings using composites, developed under an ITF research grant and presented at JEC in Paris. And expert witness work in composites before the Spanish courts, where a laminate failure has to be explained to people who will decide consequences on the strength of that explanation.

Alongside that, process plant delivery: engineering, procurement and construction of industrial facilities, technical and financial due diligence of decarbonisation, waste-to-energy and gasification projects, and the contract and commissioning discipline that determines whether a plant meets the guarantee it was sold on.

RCA Engineering exists because those two halves rarely sit in the same room. Composite specialists know the material and not the project finance. Process engineers know the plant and not the laminate. The projects that fail usually fail in the gap between them.
