One engineer, named on the work
RCA Engineering is an independent engineering advisory based in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, working across Europe in English and Spanish. It exists because composite specialists rarely know project finance, and process engineers rarely know the laminate, while the decisions now facing owners and lenders require both.
Jaime Recasens Grau, founder
Jaime is an Industrial Technical Engineer, specialising in Mechanical Engineering, from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, registered with the Col·legi d'Enginyers Graduats i Enginyers Tècnics Industrials del Garraf i l'Alt Penedès (no. 27823), and holds an MBA from La Salle Barcelona. His work with composites began at university, where he received a JEC Award for research on composites applied to construction. He went on to build carbon and aramid prepreg structures for the nautical sector, to design aerospace structures by finite-element analysis and to act as a court-appointed expert in composite materials before the Spanish courts. Alongside that, he has spent more than 25 years delivering process plants under international EPC and EPCM contracts, including biomass gasification and waste-to-energy facilities, from design and procurement through to commissioning.
How RCA became an independent advisory
Between 2020 and 2023 RCA Engineering developed composite recycling plants. In 2024 the firm became an independent advisory and stopped designing, selling or licensing plants of its own. That experience gives us first-hand knowledge of what technology developers promise and of the evidence lenders and funders need to see, and our independence means we can now say so plainly to either side.
